Women in Wellness | 1: Jessica Calderon

Meet Jessica Calderon

Jessica is the kind of woman who gently reminds you that nothing about you needs fixing — only remembering. Through her work and her website, The J Way, she offers a grounded, embodied approach to wellness that feels both deeply intuitive and refreshingly simple. Jessica’s presence is steady, calming, and quietly powerful; she meets people where they are and hands them the tools to reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and rediscover the magic that already lives within them. Rooted in lived experience rather than trends, her work invites people back to themselves — to move with intention, breathe with awareness, and create lives that feel aligned, spacious, and true.

On the Path That Led Her Here

What inspired you to create your business and step into this work?

I stepped into this work starting with the physical. I began by supporting people through diet, movement, breathwork, and reconnecting with their bodies. As I deepened my own journey, the energetic and spiritual aspects naturally emerged. I’ve truly experienced all of what I now teach.

I realized that awareness alone wasn’t enough. I had done a lot of personal growth, healing, and spiritual work, but what actually changed my life was learning how to embody what I knew — how to feel safe, grounded, and present in my body.

Once that clicked, everything shifted. I saw how many people were stuck in the same loop of trying to fix themselves instead of learning how to be with themselves. That’s where my work evolved — supporting people in reconnecting with their bodies first, and then naturally integrating the energetic and spiritual layers.

On Wellness in This Season of Life

What does wellness mean to you right now?

Wellness, for me, looks like stability — but it’s also about coming back to the basics of life. I focus on all aspects of my being — energetic, physical, emotional, and spiritual — because they’re all connected.

That can sound like a lot, but it really comes down to simple, foundational practices: getting light exposure, using Reiki in meditation, working with my sound (humming, tuning forks), creating spaciousness, setting healthy boundaries, being mindful of how I use my energy, nourishing my body, and moving it in ways that feel good. I also teach people that wellness doesn’t have to look a certain way — it’s deeply personal.

In this season, wellness means listening to my body’s cues, honoring my energy, and choosing practices that support consistency rather than intensity. If something creates more pressure than presence, it’s not wellness for me anymore.

On Living in Alignment

What does alignment look like in your everyday life?

Living in alignment means my inner world and outer life are speaking the same language.

It looks like making decisions that support my energy instead of draining it, honoring my limits, and allowing my life to be paced in a way that feels sustainable.

Alignment isn’t a destination — it’s a daily practice of listening and responding honestly.

On a Practice She Always Returns To

Is there one ritual that grounds you no matter the season?

The rituals I return to again and again are the ones that are simple and always available to me — my breath, gentle body awareness, Reiki, and some form of movement. Sometimes I combine breathwork with meditation and channel Reiki as I sit or lie down.

No matter what season I’m in, coming back to my breath and orienting gently to my body brings me back to myself. It’s simple, but it’s powerful.

It reminds my nervous system that I’m here, I’m safe, and I don’t need to rush. Reiki is something I often start or end my day with, and it supports me on many levels.

I’ve learned that if a ritual becomes complicated, I won’t return to it — so I choose practices that feel supportive, accessible, and sustainable.

On Stepping Into Personal Power

What advice would you offer women stepping into their power?

Stop trying to become someone else.

Your power doesn’t come from doing more or proving anything — it comes from being deeply connected to yourself. Learn how to listen to your body, honor your pace, and trust what feels true for you. When your nervous system feels safe, your power becomes steady — not forced.

On Creating Sacred Space

How do you invite sacredness into your daily rhythm?

Sacred space isn’t something I reserve for ceremonies anymore — it’s something I build into my daily rhythm.

It can be as simple as how I start my morning, how I transition between work and rest, or how I tend to my space. Presence is what makes something sacred. When I’m fully here, the moment becomes the container.
