Inside the Space | 2: KBIS 2026— Designing for Feeling
What a whirlwind few days immersed in innovation, connection, and a clear glimpse of what’s next in kitchen and bath design.
Each year, KBIS serves as a pulse check for our industry — a moment to step outside the studio and into the collective momentum of what’s evolving. But this year felt different. Less about spectacle. More about subtlety. Less about what’s loud — more about what lingers.
A Return to Warmth & Restraint
The overarching shift was undeniable: warmth, restraint, and a deep sensitivity to how spaces feel.
We saw tonal wood cabinetry in layered, grounded hues. Integrated lighting systems designed not just to illuminate tasks, but to create atmosphere. Seamless storage solutions that quiet visual noise. Textural stone that invites touch. Matte metals that soften reflection. And a growing emphasis on wellness-forward water systems that prioritize purity and ritual.
Function is no longer the headline. Feeling is.
The kitchen and bath are continuing their evolution from utilitarian spaces into immersive environments — spaces that regulate the nervous system, support daily rhythms, and encourage presence.
This direction aligns deeply with how we approach design at Space Design Collective. We’ve long believed that beauty is only part of the equation. True luxury lives in how a space supports your body, your clarity, your well-being.
Innovation That Serves Experience
We were inspired by the thoughtful presentations curated by National Kitchen & Bath Association and the continued innovation from brands shaping the future of our industry:
From elevated appliance integration to sculptural plumbing fixtures and advanced water filtration systems, the common thread was intentionality. Innovation for innovation’s sake is fading. Innovation in service of lifestyle — that’s where the industry is moving.
We were especially inspired by the continued evolution of color and material direction from Sherwin-Williams. Our conversations with their design leadership reinforced what we often share with our clients: palette is not decoration — it is emotional architecture.
Color shapes pace. Tone shapes mood. Material shapes memory.
An Evening of Meaningful Dialogue
Amid the full schedule, we were truly honored to attend an intimate dinner hosted by Sherwin-Williams and Cottages & Gardens — an evening centered on thoughtful conversation and forward-thinking dialogue within our industry.
Those quieter moments are often where the real work happens. Away from the show floor, in conversation with peers who care deeply about the direction of design — not just aesthetically, but ethically and experientially.
It was a reminder that design is a collective evolution. And that the future of our industry is shaped as much by dialogue as it is by product.
We Don’t Attend to Chase Trends
We attend to refine what aligns.
Trends are easy to spot. Alignment requires discernment.
At Space Design Collective, our work is rooted in clarity, balance, and well-being. When we attend KBIS, we are not searching for the next viral moment. We are looking for the pieces that quietly support the kind of environments we believe in — spaces that are calm but layered, luxurious but grounded, refined but deeply livable.
Returning to the studio, we feel inspired — and more importantly, intentional.
What’s emerging in kitchen and bath design isn’t about excess. It’s about integration. It’s about sensory experience. It’s about creating spaces that hold you, restore you, and allow you to move through your day with greater ease.
That’s the future we’re excited to translate.
And that’s what we’ll continue to design toward.

We’re grateful you’re here, and we can’t wait to share more of the journey with you.
With intention,
